The 2013 WriTivism Festival will take place from August 15 to 19 in Kampala, Uganda, and its theme is “The African Continental Writer, Reader and Publisher”. It will feature writers from countries like Zimbabwe, South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda and others on the continent. “The festival focuses on progress and prospects rather than challenges and problems,” state the organizers.
Writivism as an idea is rooted in the belief that Literature is Reality. This group is inspired by a Center for African …Cultural Excellence (CACE) project that engages young writers and readers through Literature. Project activities include a writing competition, workshop, mentoring, school tours, public readings, publication of the stories online and in an annual anthology and a Writivism festival.
